    A different spot to hang.

We set out to hang at one of our local lakes. Almost every place to park our car on the chosen logging road was charging to camp. We passed an equestrian center that had horse cages and fire pits. Why not we decided. We were low riding for sure with the bottom of our hammocks just inches from the ground. Fired up the solostove and called it camping. It was a great hang none the less. Where have you hung that's not quite the norm?

I am an indoor hanger and I hang low all the time.my stand doesn't give me that much height but I have enough height for an underquilt and still enough room for a caterpillar to walk underneath without banging there head.

Works for me 8 months in and no desire to change

Found my way into a CA state park and was promptly told I couldn’t hang my hammock from their precious trees. Luckily my buddy was there with his truck. We improvised and ended up hanging in between the two vehicles. Tarps and all. Worked out okay, but not as good as trees. Thank goodness the surf was good enough to make us forget all about the unfortunate situation. CA is a strange land.

which park was that, I've heard a few are starting to ban hanging, but I can't find any definite answers if it is state wide or just certain parks

That's awesome. Great way to improvise. Hanging low is better than not hanging at all—by a long shot.

My most unconventional setup was at Badlands National Park. I suspended my hammock between our camp site's picnic shelter and the luggage rack of our minivan. It worked fine and beat the heck out of sleeping in a hot tent in the desert with three other dudes.
