Welcome aboard SW ... check out the EGL (Eastern Great Lakes) gang on the Forum if you're interested in meeting & learning from some veteran hangers. Lots of past trip reports to read to see what we do for fun.

[ Lots of past trip reports to read to see what we do for fun.]

Welcome - Group hangs are a great way too what other folks have (and why). As for KWK comment about 'fun'... some of us play with fire, like sharp things, we all like to cook (and eat!) and some us like to take a bath mid-beaver dam while canoeing to the next hammock spot....

Welcome from southern New Jersey. Be prepared to spend hours of your life here on the forums over this first year just absorbing the wisdom and learning from the experienced. If you're like me, you will quickly fill your head with dreams of DIY and see handfuls of cash leaving your pocket. But it's oh so fun!! Happy hangin'.

Hi solitary_woodsman! Definitely come to an EGL hang. You won't find a better group of folks to hang with. I look at my fellow EGL hangers like family. We hang year round so just keep an eye pealed for a hang that works for you.

    Welcome from downtown Toronto!

Hammocking's a great way to enjoy the outdoors and these forums are a treasure trove of information. You can use the search for an answer most questions, post a question of your own and, if you're inclined, come out to and meet some of the finest folks you'll ever have the pleasure of sharing a campfire with at the various community hangs (MAHAA, EGL).
