Now PRINTING Dyneema Composite Fabric with OutdoorINK

Ever looked at the colors of Dyneema fabrics and been left wanting more? Us too. So we decided to use our OutdoorINK print process to create new ones - right here at our Durham, NC HQ

    DCF print sampler.jpg

It's taken some time to work out the kinks, but we're beyond excited to get this out to the community of makers and vendors. Because the print process for DCF is TOTALLY different from our normal process, we're starting small with kits such as our Dyneema Zipper Pouch and a few more we'll release real soon.

What PRINTING on DCF means for you:

    - Basically unlimited color selection in Dyneema Composite Kits and eventually fabric. No more gray and black.

    - More ultralight products from vendors in never before seen colors and designs

    - Ability to have a CUSTOM design/prints on DCF materials

We totally think this one will be another game changer for both the in the world of fabrics and materials for outdoor gear... and we're just getting started .

Stay tuned for more updates real soon. For now, here's a link to the DZP kit page where we've added Dark Olive, Swiss Red, and Burnt Orange colors across all sizes.

P.S. - If you haven't made one of these pouch kits, you really should. They're not much harder than a stuff sack, but really a cool project as you get to work with new material and construction techniques. Also, it's something you can literally use everyday.

Let us know what questions you have. Also if there's something you'd like to see, be sure to let us know. Thanks!

DANG... this is incredible! I'll never be able to afford it, but I wanted to be the first to congratulate y'all on this success! Also, being in the close proximity of where y'all are, would it be cool if I stopped by and said hey some time?

What do you think printing adds to the weight of the fabric?

Printing probably (rough guess) adds .05 oz/sq yd., but that is on white DCF which also probably weighs less than the existing colors of 2.92 because those are dyed which adds slight weight. Effectively, you would notice no base weight increase from using printed 2.92 over standard black etc.

I just put a large DZP in black 2.92, and one printed by us in Red on the gram scale for comparison. The black weighed 8.96 grams and the printed Red actually weighed less at 8.84 grams.

    Hope that helps!

I see. Thanks. So, plans to do .51 DCF printing or strictly 2.92?

The printing works best on the "K" variants that have the thicker mylar and then any of the hybrid variants with a woven polyester face like the 2.92 oz, 5.0 oz, etc.

To start, we'll be using the 2.92 oz DCF Hybrid and the 1.0 oz DCF.

Here's a cool little project I did before leaving on my trip to Thailand. It's a custom small DZP pouch wallet. The coolest part was creating the art file in a way that would allow for the white zipper to serve as one of the stripes in the flag.
