Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.
One of the best ways to fight the flu is to get plenty of rest. One of the best ways to get plenty of rest is to sit by a fire all day and sleep in a hammock. I'm just sayin'!
In all seriousness, I hope you feel better soon.
The extended forecast is showing over 50 degrees warmer than last year’s hang. Our shelter might get converted into some hippy sweat lodge by the end of it! Looking forward to seeing all of you! Still stinging from having to miss Da Shack.
Reading through this thread I find both 3 miles and 1/2 a mile listed as the distance one must hike in. What is the distance I can expect from the parking area to the camping area? Looks like if you drop off your gear first from a parking lot that doesn't allow overnight parking it is 1/2 mile then take the car to the overnight parking and a 3 mile walk back. leaving would be the reverse?

Looks like my daughter and I will make it for a few hours on Saturday in the late morning or early afternoon. Its a surprise for her but she said she would love to see how people set things up once they have all the gear so I think she will be excited. Mom actually told me to just keep her until Sunday so we have some freedom.
So, with the projected forecast of highs near 50° and lows around 30°, are we still planning to enclose the 3-sided shelter? Or do we just want to gather around the ol' fire pit and enjoy the outdoors?
Quite possibly.
Does anyone want to help load the wood? I am purchasing from the feed lot store on highway 6 right before the turn off toward Channahon State Park. I plan on arriving at 11:30 to pick it up. Just looking for a body to toss wood.

So goofy me didn’t realize it was this weekend. All the holiday festivities have caused quite the distraction. I have plans already, but will see if they can be changed. It’s going to be warm and also a bit muddy. Hopefully things will dry up a bit
