I got the itch two years ago to make a pair of underquilts according to the instructions from Sargevining on his youtube channel. Since my DIY skills are pretty limited and I didn't want to mess it up I ordered the fabric and quilts and had it all sent to a friend who is huge into quilting. She volunteered to do all the work so they came out looking really good instead of the mess I would have made. So here are few photos of the finished product. I also asked about adding some loops on the corners then at the halfway point on each edge. The "plan" is to be able to double the quilt longways to fit on a bridge or double it along the short edge to make it a double thickness 3/4 length quilt. My friend used a little creative license on the grosgrain choice (striped and leopard print). I think it's pretty cool and it helps you tell which is which in dim light. Since making these I'm one gathered end fewer and we've pretty much switched to using pads in "cool" weather. This is just taking up room in my gear pile.

These have cordlock on each side of the ends so you can draw up the edges then tie them across the ridgeline in sort of an improvised "triangle thingie" arrangement. Each end has cordlocks holding the lines together with a micro biner to attach it to your hammock suspension or otherwise. The total weight is 2lbs back in the stock quilt stuff sack.
