A first, at least for me.

If you've been hanging for any time at all, you've most likely had the experience of failing to grab BOTH the edge of the hammock and the UQ when re-entering in the middle of the night, just when your senses are really tuned in (yah, right!) Come on, admit it! If you were lucky, nobody was watching.

Well, I outdid myself last night. Sleeping topless/netless, I was up in the wee hours. As it turned out, I didn't fail to grab a hammock edge. I just happened to grab the wrong hammock edge, the far one. Next thing I knew, I was on my back, lying in the UQ with the hammock holding up my knees. Had a good laugh, crawled back in, and got back to sleep...

Yep. Of course it was at 3 am. Thankfully the lid was securely back on the jar!

Yup, I was used to hammocks with integrated bugnets. I made a netless hammock and went right over the end the second or third time I got in. I learned to spread out the fabric before taking a seat.

Just do what I do... never get up in the middle of the night to pee! I think I do that about once a year. You guys must be over-hydrated!

The ONE time I "missed" the hammock, was when I was sewing up my first one. Hung it in the basement, and was getting ready to climb in to try it. Missed by a bit, and got folded up against a wall. Knees against my nose. Took me about 2 full minutes to free myself.

Yep, twice over the years. You know what helps avoid this, other than paying attention? Side pull outs that keep the edges separate while you are out. Also, bridge hammocks and bottom entry HH are pretty much immune.

Some of us might have done something similar but in broad daylight and without even the excuse of underquilt confusion.

    Twice, two different ways.
First time sat in underquilt instead of hammock.
Second time, after 300am whiz, got back in hammock and could not reach bugnet zipper, spun around with feet at head end to reach zipper. And flipped out of hammock and was still in separate bugnet on ground under hammock.
Took a few minutes to get back up, luckily with no damage to gear. Ego slightly bruised. LOL
