How do we get younger people interested in camping / hammocks?

When I look around, I notice a lot of us are middle aged and up. Not seeing many young people getting into hammock camping or even camping. They seem just focused on staring at their phones and playing with them - not getting out, roughing it, and enjoying all we have with our outdoor life. What can we do to attract younger people to camping and hammock camping?

Learning curve stumps some young noobs and old noobs alike. CRP and CBS are formidable barriers. Cost of getting complete rig can be a barrier to many young campers; their limited funds and unfamiliarity with product can get them started with a hammock that is very short and little or no insulation. There you go,CRP and CBS.
At many group hangs there are mostly older campers. Usually teens and young people don’t want to be around lots of old people.
There is much to learn about knots, splicing, and hardware. That’s a lot to learn all at once.

Kids in hammock camping families can learn as they grow and accumulate good quality gear and knowledge of best ways to stay comfortable.

I think cost has a lot to do with it, I am in my late 30s and cost is still an issue. Cause on 2 incomes we barely scrape by

I'm unsure why you aren't seeing young people when you look around. I see them.

I started a new trend at our Boy Scout Troop where I have been making a hammock for each Scout that obtains the rank of Eagle Scout. Made 2 so far and converted 4 other scouts to be hammockers

Good point, although they seem to have money for $1,000 phones every couple years.

Better backcountry data coverage or even fiber optic internet primitive campsites. Would also improve rate of middle-aged “sweet hang” brag photos.
