    Here's a genuine question

I've been an avid hammock camper for years. I've also gone to ground when necessary.

This question has nothing to do with either of these things.

I'm about to schedule a mid-November camping trip to northern Ontario. My friends and I have gone up to the Bruce Peninsula national park for the past 15 years or so, but only to Cyprus Lake. Last year we decided it was our last.

The amount of construction, paving, tree removal, the sheer lack of campsites, the number of rival drinking factions, all lead us to swear off camping there ever again.

We have been looking for alternatives for almost two years. The Grotto in autumn is incredible. Laughing at the Australian tourists in autumn is priceless. But the built up park is not something we enjoy.

Is anyone familiar enough with parks in North-ish Ontario to be able to recommend a good, secluded, picturesque spot that will be accessible mid November from the Waterloo region? I'm going to pick the most secluded, hardest to get to spot if I have to choose for myself. I'm content with it. My family isn't.

    Thanks!
    Lurker.

Is backpacking an option? Because if you can backpack even one single mile, then you filter out 95% of the yahoos and you get your wish for peaceful seclusion.

It is an option; however, fires are a must on this trip and back country fires are prohibited in the area.

I've been researching Niger Lake a lot. Has anyone tried this trip in the autumn? I read the trip report from the winter; is it possible in November?

Always, for myself. I'm concerned about the new people I'm bringing, however, so something in close proximity to an escape route is needed.

Ah, I see. How close to an escape route are you thinking? Are you talking like 15 minutes back to a vehicle or something a little longer? How many people are you talking about?

Are you set on Ontario? BC has some awesome places but it sounds more like you're looking to pack the car and drive.
