Backpacking on Mich Manistee River trail

Back packed along the Manistee River trail in northern lower Michigan. Used the Warbonnet Blackbird XLC with top cover. Tarp is UGQ Winterdream. Quilts (top and under) both from UGQ. Great night sleep in mid-40s temp. While I still use a tent from time to time, I have to say, can’t beat the hammock for comfort.

Wow, mid's 40's. You're lucky. We've been near record highs for the last 4 weeks. 91 to day and supposed to stay in the upper 80's to lower 90's for a couple more weeks. "Normal" highs are supposed to be 79 not 91

That is warm ... for me late Fall / Winter are the best time to backpack in Michigan. Few/no bugs, quiet, crisp air.

I've been eyeing the Manistee River Trail loop for a while now. Looks like a great hike!

I like that trail system up there and do the loop so I end up camping on the NCT side, which I prefer. Glad you had a good time up there. I see your in Rochester...I'm just up I75 a ways. There's a couple group hangs here in Michigan and if you can make one, it's well worth it!
