    Excellent point.

A sock full of lose change might be ideal and about the most weight you could pack into a small container.

The main thing to sort out with the modeling is the basic shape and construction method, there is no great way to truly load one.
One fair warning and general problem with bridge prototypes is that they are 'one and done'. You cut it, sew it up, and hang it. If you want to tweak the design, you have to start from scratch with a new one. But if you're 'close' I suggest giving it a week or two of sleep to see if any problems develop before you jump right in to the next one.

Was looking for Grizz's gathered end bridge- might have been a thread rather than a video.

    But this is useful-

Just had to make a relatively useless addition to this thread to say how much I'm enjoying reading about all this stuff. It's fascinating!

That would make Grizz into Walter White then.

Now we need a meme with Grizz pointing menacingly at a spreader bar growling, 'I am the danger'

    except I still have hair!

Found the original dual mode hammock thread

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...s-Club-Claytor

a wee bit tongue-in-cheek for fun. There's another thread with construction details

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...Bridge-Hammock

This design was really too narrow to be comfortable routinely as a gathered end. I thought about an experiment of embedding
suspension webbing in the side of a designed-to-be-gathered end. To accomplish that rolling it in fabric to keep it from being
just webbing tacked on to the side of the hammock seemed to be a PITA---not impossible, just a whole bunch of pinning---and I never followed through.

Other than comedic value, which is always of some value, I never really saw the appeal of the combination GE/Bridge design.

What's the point in taking a perfectly good bridge and then ruining it

More like what's the point in taking a working gathered end design and make it more uncomfortable by being narrow, and by embedding suspension webbing along the sides to rub into your ankles???

The honest motivation was to have a solution for buttoning up the tarp tightly around the hammock in weather. My current solution for that problem is a HG winter tarp in the fabric formerly known as cuben fiber.... So much space for so little weight !

Grizz, that was the point to make it plenty WIDE so nothing rubs anything. Like a mattress, Maybe something you could get lucky in.

It seems I kicked a bees nest and I've given up. Much like the net tent Fiasco. Better to keep my ideas and experiments to myself.
