    Tarp Storage?

What's the best way to store a urethane coated nylon tarp when it's not in use? I have an old urethane coated tarp that I just leave rolled up in it's snakeskins and it's been fine for 10+ years. This tarp feels a bit tackier though (maybe because it's brand new). Am I ok to store it rolled up in it's skins as long as it is dry?

    Thanks

I would say yes. All my traps are just stored in their sacks or snakeskins.

I hope there's not an issue with storing tarps in snakeskins! I've been storing my tarps in snakeskins for years.

Agree with the above posts. Just remember to air out the tarp before storing it if it was raining. One of my buddies didn’t. Mold grows just about anywhere.......lol

All 3 of my silnylon tarps live in snakeskins between trips with no problems (one is about 12yrs old). Just make sure they're dry. Mine are hanging on the porch right now from a trip this weekend. They were just barely damp and are totally dry now but it's just cheap insurance.

A new tarp shouldn't be tacky! Storing any tarp packed, rolled, stuffed, whatever is fine as long as the tarp is dry and the storage place isn't damp. A PU coated tarp stored damp will end up with a deteriorated coating pretty quickly. Pretty sure silicon won't do that. However, some fabric has PU on one side and silicon on the other.

Thanks guys...I did a quick search but couldn't find that so thanks for the link. The new tarp isn't tacky (that was a bad choice of words on my end). It's just a brand new tarp so it has that new tarp feel...hard to explain lol

It's the "unacquainted with dirt" feel.
