NY > Slide Mtn Loop > Oct 12-14

Obviously, there is a bunch of information on other sites about this loop as it's quite popular but I'm trying to find out information about campsites along the route. Are there any sites along the route other then the few that are marked? Looking for options between Woodland Valley Campground (will be closed when we go) and the road to the west. Plan on starting at Slide Mtn parking lot Friday night and heading east toward Slide. Camp at the first marked site on the map about 1 mile in. Then Saturday hit the three peaks and make our way around the loop and find a site to camp. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean heading East towards Slide?

There is a nice area on the col between Woodland Valley and CR 47. You'll know it when you come across it. Basically, it's the top of the hill on the climb out of the valley.

You could also head up to Giant Ledge (+ .75 mi uphill, north of the col). Plenty of spots to choose from, fire rings, water on the way up.

Between the summit of Slide and Cornell there are marked sites but that's a bit early in the journey if you're coming from 47. Before heading down Wittenberg to Woodland valley there is the Terrace mountain shelter. It's a bit of a detour (.9 mi). However the Catskills allow wild camping anywhere that's at least 150 Ft from trail, road,or water so theoretically it's all campsite.
