The cold weather has arrived in November and that's very, very early for Florida. I have spent 6 nights in the 40's already and hope to see it colder next month at HangCon 2019

    See yall there.

50 lbs of shrimp..... That's a lot of peeling for those cheesy bacon shrimp grits. That is, if there are any left over after that Low Country Shrimp Boil.

Is it wrong to look forward to this more than the holidays?

No. No it is not. It's an extension of the holidays that ground dwellers don't have.

lilricky, GHang and Krackerjax looks like yall are being surpassed for distance travelled by Latherdome coming all the way from Oregon. It's always great to see how far someone travels to this great event.

This will be the first time I will travel in an airplane to sleep under a tarp. Most of my travel involves wearing a suit and tie. It's nice that I finally get to use some of my frequent flyer points. I will be arriving in Orlando on the Friday evening and leaving on Monday morning. I'll be renting a car at the airport. I plan to stop at an outdoors store to pick up some fuel for my stove and a grocery store for food. I assume there will be a pot luck sometime during the weekend and plan to contribute. If that fits anyone else's plans, I'll be happy to give you a ride. Just let me know.

There's an Academy Sports just north of the airport. They have those canisters that work with a Jetboil or the MSR pocket rocket. Also, if you plan on taking the toll road (SR417) to head up to Deland you can hit a grocery store (Publix) just down the road from Academy on the way to SR417. There's also an REI in Winter Park.

    1. Get there as early as you can to find the spot that best suits you. If you have a stand...well then you have your choice of anywhere...mostly
    2. Be prepared for temps from 60-20, sun and rain. Weather in Florida can be anybodies guess
    3. Bring a towel
    4. Find a place to help a little. Makes the whole weekend run smooth
    5. Make some new friends, the place is full of great folks
    6. Show the vendors some love, even if you don't buy anything. Let them know you appreciate them being there
    7. Bring a good can food donation for the camp host, they will appreciate it more than you know
    8. Bring a good story to tell or a song to sing around a campfire, after the moonshine tasting everyone will think its funny
    9. Bring a camp chair, seating will be limited at times, especially the raffle
    10. Bring something to share (food, gear, a smile)

Most of all take in and enjoy the community that we have here in Florida. The folks that put this together have done a superb job over the years and the whole event feels like one big family reunion. Welcome to the family.
