    Last week, I made my first bridge starting with Bic's design then modding it a little with some Grizz ideas.

    You handled the metal bobbins better than my first solution--it transfers the force straight through, I like it.

    Have you slept in your hammock yet? I have 5 nights in mine so far, it sleeps just fine.

    My knurled bobbins were my undoing - they chewed through the Kevlar loops at the corners.

    I was proudly showing my hammock to a friend, and as he sat in it the Kevlar snapped and he hit the ground.

    Off to buy more 1/2" Kevlar and some smooth bobbins.
    ...and unpick the chewed-up Kevlar loops

    The bobbins are extraneous and possibly a liability (as in this case). My two cents are just skip them.

    Great. It's the only bridge I've ever tried. Quite different to a gathered end - flatter, more "cot-like", and less gently swaddled. The fabric feels firmer and under more tension than a gathered end.
