Solo Hammocking... Is it for you?

I enjoyed the responses in the recent post about having the Mojo to go solo..

Curious how you all feel about solo in the woods. I enjoy time on the trail with others.. good conversation, sharing the experience and inevitably I learn something new. However, to really recharge I need to be alone. Responsible for only myself, moving at my own pace based only on my whims.

How do you feel about going solo??
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Solo trips are the most relaxing and re-energizing in my opinion. You set your own schedule, do what you want whenever you want............and for me that means going to bed early and sleeping late and pulling off a 10-11 hour nap. Haha.

Option #5: I really enjoy solo camping, wish I could do more, but end up doing mostly group hangs anyway.
Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.

Setting your own schedule and pace is a major bonus. Also it’s therapeutic setting time to just have a conversation with yourself.

Especially now that I’m living in such a populated area, solo or with my daughters (my wife won’t sleep in an RV, much less a ten or hammock) is my preferred mode of hiking. I’m on my own pace, I can adjust my route if I want, and finding a camping space is MUCH easier.

That being said, if I’m with a group it tends to be a bit easier getting a kitchen pass.

my personal favourite type of trips are when you solo in to meet someone, then after the first night, they leave, you have a day or 2 solo, then meet up with someone else

Perhaps not what you meant but most of my hammock camping is done alone because I don't hike. I motorcycle or car camp, set up a base camp and do day walks from it..or not depending on my mood.

I'm a conflict within myself. I enjoying going solo. I like the serenity. My problem is my motivation to hike the distances I want to hike diminishes when I'm not with someone else. Finding folks to backpack with is tough though between schedules and willingness.

Definately solo however since I had a Titanium computer implanted, my daughter Hangs with me. I just do piddly little day hikes
There are way too many people for my comfort hiking unless we get into really remote areas, mostly in Washington State. I am not comfortable hiking trails with a lot of hikers and dogs running loose. I do love hiking where I only rarely run into others using the same trail.
