My top reasons for this are number one— in rain, wet straps are more easily separated from the Hammock, you don’t have to run the strap all the way through the cinch buckle. Simply disconnect the dogbones off the beetle buckle or mantis.

Secondly— I feel that I can get in between shorter distance trees with this method. Also, I’m pretty sure I’ve saved some weight going this route over the stock WB suspension.
I do exactly the same...Beetle Buckles with the poly/Dyneema straps. Attach the dogbones directly to the Beetle Buckle hooks. I’ve tried whoopies. Require too much distance between trees. I have Mantises (Manti?) with daisy chain webbing. The Beetles are easier to adjust. The Beetles are my “99% of the time” suspension.

PS: I use Dutch clips to secure the webbing around the tree.

PSS: Beetle Buckles with the 15’ poly/Dyneema webbing weighs around 7 ounces if I remember right. So not the lightest, but is super easy to use.

Searched and searched WB web site and can't find exactly what comes "stock"....if you don't choose the whoopies/straps or webbing buckle.

When I hear stock suspension with Warbonnet I think strap and buckle style suspension. You’re right, if you look at Warbonnet’s site there is the option when you buy a Ridgerunner if you want to include a suspension of either strap and buckle (or webbing buckle as you put it), and whoopies. Selecting one of those is the stock suspension. Personally I recommend the strap and buckle if you’re going the “stock” route and ordering a suspension with your hammock.

As mentioned previously, there are other suspension options from other vendors, one example being the aforementioned Beetle Buckles. That is not stock as it is not included with your original purchase.

    Hope that helps.

Yup- hard to go wrong with the beetle buckles and Dyneema webbing. Simple and quick. I have the sewn-on Dutch clips on mine.

Dutchware Bridge Hammock Whoopie Hooks to Titanium buckles/Spider Poly Straps to Dutch Hooks. Nothing wrong with WB stock straps but I like Dutch's stuff and this set-up lets me pack wet straps separate from the hammock.

I took him as meaning stock as one of the two offerings:
    Webbing/Buckle ($10.00)
    Whoopies/Straps ($15.00)

So there is a slight charge.
Some folks mod their suspension out after getting the RR.

I should have been more specific when I used the term "stock". WB offers 3 ways to purchase the RR. The first is: None (Continuous Loops). That is what I was referring to and how I will order it since I want Dutch's Beetle Buckle with either his whoopie hook system or his strap/buckles.....no need to add WB straps or whoopies then not use them.

After reading all the comments, I'm leaning towards 15' Spider/Poly/Buckles instead of the whoopie hooks. Thanks for all the help!

I use the stock webbing suspension and added a pair of C.A.M.P. Nano 22 carabiners to the ends. I'm thinking of shortening the dogbones because they are very long and when I do that I'll add a Dutch carabiners at the dogbones so I can pack the straps separately when the suspension is wet.

Tree—-titanium Dutch Clips on dyneema straps—- Dutch Cinch Bugs—-dogbones. So I removed the apex buckle to do this. Largely for ease of storing wet straps separately.

I have the fixed end of a whoopie larskheaded around the dogbones. I've also got a soft-shackle through the two dogbones, which works as an alternative attachment point for when the trees are too close together for the whoopies.

A marlin-spike hitch on my tree strap connects to either.

This is on a DIY bridge that I haven't actually used yet, but it should work, right?
