5th Annual Lighthouse and Lobster Hang

Another amazing lobster hang for the record books! I didn't take many photos and always have trouble uploading the ones that I do, so this post will be photo free.

It was great to see everyone, especially after having to miss this hang last year, and so nice to meet some new faces. We had so many people from far, far away, including Dawn and Ted With One D (NJ), the Florida gang, and the folks from Cedar Ridge Outdoors and Jacks R Better.

We missed Chaaaz and Jerry but are grateful that _ewok and magentasky were able to represent the Sky clan.

As is par for the course for this hang, we had lots of good things sort-of planned, like a hike, kayaking, and some potluck meals, and barely managed to do any of them. Clearly we were doing our best to represent Maine: The Way Life Should Be by being as lazy as possible! And eating lobster of course!

Huge thanks to Tom for organizing this and letting us once again descend like locusts to take over his campground. And Justin for organizing an incredible raffle. Thanks to everyone who provided goodies for the raffle. We raised (if I remember correctly) $1933 for the Lighthouse Preservation Society.

And -- in case you missed them in the planning thread -- don't forget about the discount codes some of our sponsors provided us (in addition to the generous raffle items they provided!!):

    Jacks-R-Better: 10% off - Expires 9/30/2018 - llh201810off
    Cedar Ridge Outdoors - 10% off - Expires 12/31/2018 - lightlobster
PatchOps - 25% off - once per customer - lobster
HuppyBar trail bars - FLASHBOGO for "buy one/get one"

    See y'all next year!

    Correct on the total! $1933

I passed the money off to Alison, and she and Chaaz ( who we missed dearly this year) will be making the hand in soon!

Jerry, we missed you too. I hope both of you feel better soon, and I can’t wait to hang with you guys again.

As I announced after the raffle, I will be completely unable to attend for the next two years due to Ava’s school. She starts school the same day we usually head up for the hang. John Evan has offered to take over the raffle, but he’ll need some help.

Please, also give Flash (Ted) credit for the raffle as well. He did a lot of work getting Amok, Hammock Gear, SHUG and a few other vendors into the raffle. It truly was easier with his help.

I’ll post some pics tomorrow. For now, I need sleep

I had such a great time at my first New England hang, with many more to come as I finish building my home in the Whites. As an added treat, two of my fellow Florida hangers attended. We all thought the lobster was over the top. You folks really know how to kick camp food up a notch! I immensely enjoyed the conversations around the campfire. It was a pleasure getting to know new friends and putting faces to forum names. Same time next year and hope to see many of you soon in Goshen!

I also will get around to photos once I have recovered from the fun. For now +1 echos to everything LJane and Hk2001 have said. We have once again raised the bar on how great a hang we can have. Wonderful people, having a wonderful time... regardless of what we actually get around to doing!

And if anyone who tried the HuppyBar trail bars wants to pick some up from the Huppybar.com site, Lyndsay[Huppy] Hupp was kind enough to give me the code FLASHBOGO for "buy one/get one"... good on any purchase.
Hint: Huppy sometimes does free shipping for a month or so, and this can bring down the costs even more... mebbe get on her mailing list and keep your eyes out.

Thanks to everyone that planned, helped, showed up this year. Always a great time at the L&L Hang.
Didn't have much time for photo ops and hanging by the fire as per previous years as I kid wrangling, but on the positive side, I believe we converted 3 new hangers to our little cult.
My GF and her 2 boys attended this year, and after checking out and laying in hammocks, and winning a couple "prizes" at the raffle they are all very excited to attend next year.
Looks like I'm in the market for 3 more sets of quilts...

Also a big thanks to all the vendors and donators for their generosity. There were some truly amazing items this year and it was very much appreciated.
The Swiss Army knives, T-shirt, and Hang Time Hook have all been put to good use already.
Special shout out to the Jacks 'R' Better team for the awesome Bear Mountain Bridge. It has been claimed by my GF, but I did get to lay in it... once.

Chazzzz and Jerry - get well soon!
