    Shoulder straps and Dyneema

I am looking to make another backpack. I have made shoulder straps before but they are a ton of work. I think the replacement Osprey shoulder straps and hipbelt really fit the bill , but i was wondering if anyone has seen anything better out there for around the same costs.

Also I saw a McHale pack and they are incredable. Don't look at one because you will want one and they are outragously priced. The guy I talked to said the process starts with you sending $400 and then when the pack is done you will pay more. So I need to know more about dyneema material. I think it only comes in 4 ounces per yard. Does anyone know the best place to get that material?
    Peace Dutch

    didn't take advice

Uh oh I didn't listen when you said not to look at the McHale pack. I just watched a vid on youtube about preppin for the AT. I was thinkin that the guy had a really nice pack. In hindsight It looked just like a McHale. I want one.

The camel backpack shoulder straps are sweet, but I don't know if you can get them by themselves. You can go to the REI garage sales and get a used one cheap sometimes to cut up; we bought ours to cut up for $19.

Thru hiker has straps, may not be better but they are cheaper. I have not seen dyneema anywhere other than thruhiker.

Not quite sure the price difference but you could look at Deuter!? I know they sell the straps that have the Velcro attachment (a big loop basically) my Girlfriend just got one of their packs and it is real comfy! Here is the link for the shoulder strap.

Dutch, the Osprey belts look nice. How much do they weigh?

The dyneema from thru-hiker is nice. If you decide to make your own straps, also pick up some of the 3D mesh. I have recently completed a set of straps from those materials, and they turned out pretty nice. I have not had time to finish the bag, yet.
