Hi all, I'm a bit new to this whole hammock thing. Tried it a few times on the top of a mountain to lighten the backpack load but ended up not being able to sleep comfortably no matter what I tried, I'm a side sleeper and just couldn't make it work. Then I discovered the Amok and my life has been forever changed :-) Even with the added weight, it's worth every ounce for that amazing comfort and chair mode. I now find myself looking in the woods frequently while driving or walking anywhere constantly scouting for places to hang. I'm located in the Northeast so there's no shortage of mountains with trees to hang from! I've appreciated all the tips and tricks that I've found scattered throughout the forums here and look forward to someday being at a place where I can contribute and help others as well.

Welcome! I’m in the great state of Maine too. Planning to pack my ridgerunner for some dirt bike and mountain bike overnights. Got any favorite campsites? I was recently up in Blue Hill and Castine area which was pretty amazing.

Shug! You've helped me a lot through those amazing videos of yours. Probably the most helpful thing of all is that you turned me on to the Madaglia D'oro Coffee, I take it with me on every trip now. How long have you been juggling? I'm a juggler myself, learned at 8 years old and dabbled with it ever since. Been able to get to 5 objects but can't seem to break that barrier.

muggins, Castine and Blue Hill is so gorgeous, never hung up there but visited several times. I mostly stick to the western mountains and the Whites. If looking for a quick getaway overnight I'll hit Pleasant Mountain (Shawnee Peak). It's a couple mile moderate hike with some great hang spots on the top and awesome views of the whites and it's only an hour from the Greater Portland area.
