But these inexpensive and lower weight strength straps also have some stretch to them even though they are poly. So I use an Amsteel Lead and Dutch Speed Hook to connect to CL on hammock. Also instead of using a loop to connect to tree, I use an ADutchable Clip to change the length of the strap so most of the suspension is 7/64 Amsteel.

So my reason to "complicate" my suspension a little is to avoid stretch in my suspension. Also, I like to play and fiddle with my kit. OK. Mostly to fiddle. And play.

OK I like to fiddle with this stuff as well... ordered some mule tape this morning just to get some experience with it, so if somebody asks "did ya ever?" I can say yes.

Those are what Jeff Myers calls Evo loops... similar to soft shackles but easier to make (just a loop joined with a diamond knot or button knot) and I find them far easier to release than a soft shackle.

That said, if the trees aren't too large I forgo the Evo loops and simply tie a slipped buntline hitch in the strap... super fast to tie, releases very easily, cinches down on the tree to hold position, easy to loosen to adjust height up or down as necessary. However I haven't seen anyone else using it and it doesn't seem popular on HF, but it can be used with everything from 1mm cord up to 2" wide kevlar huggers.

Cmoulder, several experienced hangers were using slipped buntline at John Rock. Ive not used it—-see no reason not to use it. Seems fast and secure and releases well.
    Why knot!

I have my indoor hammock hanging on EVO loops. Very handy devices.

Slipped Buntline.. we've confirmed it holds a bucket load of weight too... Not sure exactly how much a bucket load is, but that hitch holds strong.

And that other knot.. for the tarp. Been trying for a week to replicate and I forgot how you tied it!! Use it or lose it..
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
