I like to hang the hammock first. It's easier to measure the height of the tarp. But when it's raining I have some difficulties hanging the hammock after the tarp, always have to adjust it again.
I would like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks

It depends... if I know the weather is good throughout, hammock first. Since I live in Florida where the weather is unpredictable, tarp first. If I have to question the weather or myself, tarp first. If I have to move a body, always a tarp first.

Is it raining? Tarp 1st. Otherwise I might not hang the tarp at all.
If trees are limited and I need to use trees which are possibly too far apart, I hang the tarp in the snake skins simply as a measuring device. If the tarp fits, I can make the hammock work.

Tarp first... Always!
I learned this at my very first group hang. Fond memories of that 2nd annual Texas hang. Except.... I hung my hammock first, then didn't have room between the trees for my tarp. Off to another set of trees with a lesson in tow. Plus, it's just good practice for rain when it becomes necessary.

Tarp first if it is raining, otherwise hammock first.
Always tarp first, for me.

Always hammock first for me as many times I do not use a tarp.
I only hang the tarp if it’s raining or rain is a strong possibility or the wind is likely to be an issue. Otherwise it rarely come out of my pack. But I have it always ready to be first up and last thing taken down.
