Is simply painting or staining and waterproofing the 2x2's enough to keep them from warping? How do you store yours?
Thanks in advance!

Paint, stain or waterproofing should work just fine plus they are cheap enough that they probably cost less than the paint.
After putting stain on mine I cut the top off of some 16 oz water bottles(bottled water from Kroger) slipped them over the end that touches the ground and heat shrank them with a heat gun.I am very happy with the end result. They should last for many years.

I made tripods out of hardwood shovel handle replacements.... lashed together.
They're out all year round: great hammock stand with conduit, (and (holds netting up
on rhods in winter to keep deer from devouring)...
No problems with any warping... they're varnished.

Used semi transparent stain on my stand. All parts cut to 78" length. Sewed a long skinny bag that holds the stand and top rail. The bag is standing in the garage. Just pick it up by the handle and sling it into the van. Works great.
