ISTHBDB or I'm Sure This Has Been Done Before... hardwareless CRL

After reading Baka Dasai's excellent post the other day about his no hardware CRL I got to thinking....hmmmm. What I came up with is just a partial no hardware CRL.....this may have already been done. I still use micro-biners w/ prusiks to attach the tarp to the CRL. In the past I'd use a micro-biner on one end of the CRL... BTW, I use 7/64 amsteel, so the micro-biner goes around the tree and clips on to the amsteel. The other end I'd take a half turn around the tree, pull tight and then complete the round turn and finish up with 2 half hitches, the last being slippery.

Well now here is what I'm gonna do..... two CL's prusiked to both ends... now for the pictures.

You get a little mechanical advantage when you pass the bitter-end thru the CL and pull against it . If you want to prevent your whoopies or what ever you use to suspend your hammock from rubbing against your CRL, slide the prusik further from the tree, giving you a nice open Vee. Personally I don't worry about that....

Anyway, this may be of some use to you......as for me, I'll be reducing the weight of my pack by one micro-biner!

Looks good. I’m trying to go hardware free in my suspension. I think I’ll try that. Thanks for labeling the hand in your drawing.

Thanks Winnie. Putting the label on the hand was the most critical part of the illustration.
