    Hammocking in the Seychelles

I just got back from an extended trip to the Seychelles and I made sure to bring my Deep Jungle XL. I spent two nights in the hammock, once on a tiny island no bigger than a house facing the setting sun, and the other one a beautiful beach that required a short hike to get to facing the other direction.

I brought my daughter along to the first island, and shortly after we arrived and had set everything up we noticed all the palm rats and hermit scrabs scurrying around in the dusk. I set up our hammocks and we read a bit before falling asleep. The wind started blowing pretty heavily and I was unprepared when it came to clothing, all I had was a pair of shorts and a big hamam towel which I gave to my daughter, or course. The wind increased and made sleeping pretty hard so my daughter wanted to come in my hammock, which she did, and she slept in my arms which is one of those moments you never forget, comfort be damned...

The second night I went along to a beach that needed quite a hike, and spent quite a bit of time looking for the only two suitable trees on the entire beach. Palm trees. With coconuts. And again during the heavy trade winds. I positioned the hammock to make sure that if a coconut decided to let loose it wouldn't land anywhere near my head and set in for a sleep. I set up a tarp in porch mode so I could see the ocean and I brought more clothes than last time so I wasn't particularly chilly. (No chance at going without a tarp as it rains all time time, briefly but strongly.) Getting up to pee in the middle of the night was something I'll never forget. Hundreds of crabs on the beach, phosphorescence with every foot step, and a clear sky of stars like I've never seen. The wind and crashing waves made sleep difficult but it was very relaxing to sway in the hammock and watch the sun rise on a one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, all alone....

Chillin' on a tropical beach...I can feel all my worries drifting away. Nice shots, bluewing.
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

We flew to the main Island of Mahe, then took a ferry to La Digue where we stayed for the majority of our time.
