Looking for a UQ that won't break the bank for car camping

My family and I usually car camp once or twice a year. My back has not been doing well on the ground as I get older. So thinking of handing my 2 person tent to my 13 year old daughter and getting a hammock.

I ordered a Hennessy Expedition Zip from Bass Pro to test out if I think I would like it. I am 205lbs and around 6'.

We are planning on going camping on Columbus Day weekend in northern NH...... weather can get range from mid-20s to high 30s at night.

I have a Sierra Designs Dream Machine 15F sleeping bag.... but was looking for a UQ without spending a lot of money.

Most of our camping trips are in August where temps go form 40s to 60s at night. But I don't want to be cold in Oct either.

Sounds like a synthetic UQ would fit your needs. Check out AHE.

Don't expect the hammock to be perfect from night 1. You're going to find that there's both a learning curve in getting the right hang and finding the right way to lay in it. Then there's just getting used to a new "bed." Chances are that you'll get to the right combination of variables before long.

I recently got a Hammock Gear econ series 20 degree UQ and couldn't be more impressed with it. Highly recommend it if you can wait for it.

One of my friends just got a new AHE Jarbridge for her WBBB XLC. Very nice construction and a reasonable price. Hard to beat unless you are capable of DIY.

Hello... I just watched the video on the Jarbridge... does that allow you to lay diagonal in the hammock? It looked like that guy was in a banana position?

Thanks.. I will check out AHE. What about the Hennessy reflectix pad with a sleeping back? Are those hard to sleep on like a pad in a tent?

If you're interested I will post an AHE 3 season Potomac and top quilt in the for sale section. Basically new just a little to big for my pack.

You can get very diagonal with any of our quilts. The guy in the hammock was quite tall and a shorter hammock. But you can easily angle the quilt to match up with your angle of lay in any gathered end hammock.
