Wait a minute ... I recognize those rocks! I camped in Dartmoor for a week of Letterboxing in 2003. I was not an enlightened hammock camper back then. Nice use of the Tors as anchor points.

I don't think I would have trusted these rocks as an anchor point. I most definately would have dreams of being crushed to death! lol

I think it probably still could - anchor the tree end of the tarp high and partially warp around the tree with your tie outs so you have more room at your head end, and the foot end of the tarp could anchor almost directly to the foot poles. the weather would dictate how high you could put the head of the tarp, with worse weather requiring it to be lower.

    Hiking with my HH
the left tree is a big tree. the right tree is a small tree.
it is not necessary to have a drip line on the poles side.

@lkk6783 - which trekking poles do you use? Which brand? Which model? I assume that they are made from aluminium? What's the weight of the poles? I see flick-locks on your pictures; have you tried poles with screw-locks?

I'm afraid to try my 158g Fizan aluminium trekking poles with screw-locks. My guess is, I need to use more robust poles. But which ones?

Thanks! So it should work with fairly lightweight poles with either flick-lock or screw-locks... Good to know.

US$30 for a pair of carbon trekking poles is a pretty good deal!
