I admit to being kayakless. However, the Clackamas River is jusst down the hill via Cripple Creek. If you havent , I'd recomend cheking out between Ripplebrook and the power station lake down stream. Might bec good paddlin.

BTW, when it comes to Chanterelles, I've often thought of going shrooming just above Shellrock campground. Especially East facing slopes. Elevation and surrounding flora are very similar to a great Chanterelle site that was destroyed by fire this summer near Terwilliger Hot Springs in Lane County.

It will pop out at a signpost with no sign right before crossing the Shellrock outlet stream. There is no special reason to take it (other than to shortcut a loop) but it might be fun to explore if you know it's there.

Hey there, On Wednesday, I made it up to the Cripple Creek Trail head. Did not have much daylight left. At least I found it. Roads are poorly numbered though in pretty good shape. There is about a mile and a half that might cause a low clearance car some difficulties. There was little to no sign of any recent use of the area. Will return soon to check it out more.

Hello! Located in Bellevue, Wa. I’m new to hammock camping and would love to connect with others in the area. Are there ever any group hangs in the PNW?

I have a Ride 115 and a Jackson Kilroy. Have always talked about a trek incorporating the two.

Vancouver, WA here. I am fairly new to the hammock, but have been reading and planning for several years. I camp year round, at least once a month.

I'm in Vancouver, WA as well. Schedule is a mess and I'd likely never be able to make a group hang, but I salute the effort and understand what you mean about the folks in the East.

It also seems easier for them to find good spots to hang. I don't know if it's their smaller trees, lack of giant mountains, more accessable forests, or what.

I tend to do solo backpacking trips (if I'm with kids and/or girlfriend we'll tent). I default to Oregon's Mt Jefferson Wilderness because I know it but would love to find hang-friendly alternatives closer to home! This is a helpful thread!
