Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park

    Hello all,

Does anyone have experience hammock camping in the Mineral King area? We are planning to do the Mineral King loop and there are areas above tree line, but I am still waiting for my map to arrive to see if I can plan campsites below the tree line on this route. If portions of this trek are above treeline for too long I guess I will have to be prepared to go to ground for a night here or there. I'm just trying to get some insight from anyone who might know the area.

    Thanks!

Did you ever go on the Mineral King Loop? We just received permits for the end of August for Timber Gap Trail to Sawtooth Pass over three nights. Any insight on hanging? Should I be prepared to go to the ground at least one night?
