    Total noobie from Minnesota

I’m excited to begin my hammock camping adventure. I’ve been cooped up since last October undergoing treatment for leukemia. I’m doing well now and the doctor thinks I can (maybe) go camping in September. I can no longer sleep on the ground and I’m hoping the hammock is the thing for me. I recently ordered a Chameleon from Dutchware (and a few gadgets...) and have been learning a lot from forums and YouTube. A lot! Thanks to all of you who have been dropping your knowledge.

Unsure if you'd be up for camping over Labor Day, but I'm hosting a hang three hours away from you at Wildcat Mtn State Park.

Wow. That would be great. I’m not sure I should venture very far from home that soon, however. But Thanks so much for the invite. I will check out the link.

First of all, sorry to hear about the leukemia. That's nasty stuff. Second, welcome to the forums! Attending a hang is a great way to try other hammocks, see people's set ups and get ideas for your own, as well as meet some good people. You're up there close to God's country, so enjoy!

Not sure if you are looking for a place to go or ppl to go with.

I would start look at state forests rather than state parks. Off hand a quick easy close trip to Sand Dunes https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_fo...00045#homepage

Yes they are more primitive but way less crowed even more so in sept.(after school starts) I've been there a few times try sites 31 or 9

There are so many places you can go in the state. Good luck and enjoy !

If you are okay, we can hang and camp out together. I'm also a newbie here, welcome to both of us.

Thanks for the tip on the State Forest. That looks great. And not far away. I’m gonna have to start out slowly...

Welcome to the forums. I do hope you get out and enjoy yourself, perhaps starting in your own back yard, which is where I plan to be tonite (my back yard, not yours). Finally, finally, finally some 60s in the night for lows, so it's hammock testing time.
