WI-HYOH Haul Your Own Haul Hang- (20 mile hike) Sept. 28-30

Hey guys, I'm tired of sitting and eating and coordinating everything. The result is this: HYOH-Haul Your Own Haul Hang.

The Location: Kettle Moraine North

The Plan: Hike from Butler Lake to Shelter #3, sleep for the night, hike from Shelter #3 to Shelter #1 (13 miles), sleep for the night, Hike to the car parked at a lot a few miles away on Ridge Rd.

Things you should know: A Wisconsin State Park Sticker is needed. $8/$28 daily/annual for WI residents. $11/$38 for non-WI residents. Fire is not guaranteed; we are allowed to burn any dead and down wood in the area but I do not plan on arranging for wood. I plan on starting the trip from Butler Lake to Shelter #3 at 7:00 pm but you may create your own day out of it and meet up at the shelter on Friday or Saturday. You may want to hide some water along the trail to avoid carrying it all in your pack. I have not yet got to that point in the planning but will do so later and will post my plan here.

Cost: The cost was about $60 for the sites, give what you want or join for free

Here is a sign-up sheet to let me know if you are coming. There is a max of 10 people allowed at each shelter.

Yeah I saw that but cannot find a clear map with them marked. Some of those are a decent distance from the shelter.

I haven't done much in the northern kettles but if it's anything like the southern, and I don't see why it wouldn't be, the shelters are up high and the water is down low. I would plan for hauling water, at best, a relatively short distance......uphill!

Have fun, would love to tag along.....but I'll be in a canoe.
