    Hello from the North West!

Hi everyone. Happy to be a member here!

I am new to hammocking, hanging and ultralight backpacking. I’ve been a grounder and a load bearer for a long time. I blame that on my Infantry roots. You know, “ pack light... freeze at night.”

A few years ago my buddy bought an ENO single before a winter trip to Sunriver Oregon. He hung it up over the hot tub a few feet off the snowy deck. I knew I had to have one of those. Not to be out done, I bought the one link double nest; $220 😟

I took it with me on a solo Jeep excursion later that summer, slept in it twice and shelved it for future “pincnics only.”

    Banana sleeper: check
    Cold butt syndrome: check
    Smooshed shoulders: check

I just happened to run across The Shug earlier this month on YouTube while looking for some other random stuff. Needless to say, I was like how in the h is this guy loving his hammock so much? So I devoured his 1000 videos on the topic and decided to give it another whorl.

Now I’ve got a setup that suits me fine, is DIY (mostly) and I enjoy hanging in.

Welcome and thanks for your service.

This is a GREAT community and I think you will find it very educating. I know that I have. I also started with an Eno (For a night...) before realizing I needed a more robust setup/system in order to be good to go. Once you get squared away...there is nothing like sleeping blissfully suspended among the trees. Happy hanging!
“The word hammockable (Meaning: two trees that are the perfect distance apart between which a hammock can be hung) is not in the dictionary, but it should be.”

Hello and welcome from Arkansas. You found one of the best YouTubers out there to learn from. Ive been hanging for a while now and still go back to his videos to tweak my setup.
