AMOK Draumr XL Thread ~ 2018 & Drinking the Kool-Aid Again

Probably a good time to start a new thread for the Draumr XL while we wait for April 1st, 2019
[BTW~ Didrik confirmed to me that the delivery date [projected] is NOT an April Fools joke... they have a sense of humor!]

As new details come out of the proto-types and early reviews, this can be the source for "all things XL'lent".
I'm not that long and tall, but I'm fascinated again....

    I'll be reviewing mine soon.......
This is not a hammock for UL folks but really no heavier than a Clark hammock or similar.
For what it does (recline mode, fully flat) it is amazing. My favorite read a book in backyard hammock.
As to ground set up....can be done but use a ground cloth. Jonas told me ground pitch damages are not under THEIR Warranty.

    From Jonas:
As long as our customers choose their campsites wisely, ground setup can be done. The only problem is that the bottom fabric of the hammock and the sleeping pad are susceptible to tearing/puncturing if there are sharp objects, and this is not something that is covered by warranty.

i'm just praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster that all the changes make it to the 2019 regular size Draumr (4.0?)

actually, just the footbox change. I'm fine with current suspension, and the bugnet works just fine as is. that footbox solves the only real complaint I have about the system

I’m seriously thinking about preordering one of these (30% off if you preorder this month). I have seen the videos and it looks like some improvements. How does the lay compare?

Same lay but even better in my opinion. Longer, wider with a bit of room to space. open foot box.

nah, cause then I need the new tarp and the new pad. I just want the new features on the regular size amok. I'm only 5'8, 5'9 on a good day, I don't need the extra material

Since I just spent a few hundred dollars on a complete Draumr 3.0 kit this year and since it is in perfectly good shape and I like it I will not be getting the XL any time soon. However, I am looking forward to the comments and reviews! A few comments of my own:

First about the 3.0. I like this hammock more each time I take it out. It is easy to hang, comfortable and I believe very well made. At 6' 1" 190 lbs. I have plenty of room. When I lay on my back my pillow does a nice job of keeping the bug net off my face. When I'm curled on my side I'm much shorter so no problem.

Second, on hammock camping in general. I just started hammock camping this past April. A few weeks ago I was in the Adirondacks hanging about 25 feet from a beautiful lake. The branches were situated in a way that I was able to tie the front of my tarp to a height of about 5 feet. (super porch mode?) I had the bug net zipped up and all night fresh cool air moved across the hammock. When I woke up I was looking at the water and a patchwork of green at the opposite shoreline. I doesn't get much better than that! I'm not going to get rid of my tent, I just don't know when I'll use it again.

Looking forward to those XL comments and reviews!

That would be nice but I heard not a yes, not a no, maybe just maybe but not anytime soon as they are a small company and the XL is keeping them busy.
