AZSteelman used a piece of 3/8" PEX tubing available at most any hardware store. I had some at the house so tried it, and can affirm that it works pretty well. Just cut to the length you need. A 5 foot piece from the hardware store should cost no more than a few bucks.

I bought a white, a red and a blue piece. Couldn’t help myself at only 3$ a stick. Works like a champ. Be happy to share some if anyone wants to come on over to SE Ohio and grab it.

Ah pex, of course. I probably have some laying around the house somewhere. I was guessing it was a plastic dowel of some sort but pex seems like a much better idea. Thanks guys!

It's surprising how little weight is required to tether the ends for a 90 degree hammock. You could use your motorcycle wheel, and a big rock, stump or probably even a small stake, although I haven't tried. When I set up my diy, I got in the stand with no tether, then tie off where it looks like it needs it. The stand will hold with no tether, just don't lean or you will taco

Hey guys, has anyone used a hammock gear Cuban fiber palace tarp with the draumer xl? If so, do you hang the tarp sideways or lengthwise?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

    Specifications

    .50oz/sqyd (.60 for camo print)
    10' 4" wide

that's 62 inches each side, which is super borderline for a regular size Draumr, let alone the XL (borg is 71 inches each side, for reference)

I guess if you had the 12' ridgeline, you could hang it sideways and make it work....

but I think a different tarp would be a better choice
