in april, you can watch playoff hockey from the nearest provincial park to me, lol
that's what's on my screen there.
Using the cord lock notch of the Hangtime Hook over the Amsteel ridgeline works fine and provides a good viewing position. The drawback is that any movement inside the hammock causes the device to swing back and forth comically and takes a minute or so to settle out.
One way to reduce swinging is ballast, but I've never loved the idea of hanging a weight a couple feet above my gentleman's area.
So next time, I will probably use this simple shock cord suspension that I made up for using the HTH with my netless hammocks. It's just an alligator clip on each end of a piece of 1/16" shock cord, with a cord lock on one side to adjust the length.

Got my 3.0s pitched in the yard now. Trying to decide which I like better at 6' tall.
XL or 3.0
Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
I'm 6'1" and had my first experience with a Draumr (also first with any 90°) last night. Didn't need the bugnet, so didn't use the stick pockets. It seems like using the stick pockets would open things up a bit even without the bugnet, but I wondered how a person 11" taller than me would be able to fit. They claim it works for people up to 7'. It was not an issue at all for me though, and I thought it was very comfy.
Chair mode alone almost makes the hammock worth the price. Very impressed with how nice that is. Adjusting the pull straps for the head end and foot end while in the hammock was a little difficult. Maybe you're supposed to egress before adjusting those straps tighter. Loosening them while in the hammock is very easy.
Overnight low was about 24° and for me, I think that's about the comfort limit of the Fjol XL pad. I could probably take it down to 20° but much below that would be pushing it.
Getting the XL hammock back into the stuff sack was indeed a challenge, and that was on the living room floor. Doing so in the wild would probably result in bringing some twigs and duff along while packing, which would concern me a little for punctures and such. But at least the bugnet is protected.
Overall, pretty happy with it!
I liked the Borg tarp, too. Was very quick and simple to set up with all the cordage built in. I like the Norwegian pattern on the cord too, that's a sweet little touch.
As a 6’1” dedicated full time stomach/side sleeping bafoon, the difference between the 3.0 and xl is nite and day. The xl is a game changer for me. The big advance the xl has in chair mode is the footbox does not chew my chins up. Does anyone else find that the xl foot wants to flip under at times in chair mode?
