Get Derek to make a shiny little pocket card - everyone looks at those.

You should also include a "license to hang anywhere" card. That way, when camping at certain state parks- when the ranger comes up to you and says you can't hang your hammock, you can just reach into your pocket and show him your Dutch Hang Anywhere license. You'll be all set.

Genius idea! I am so going to mock something up, print it out and laminate it, maybe punch a hole in one corner and larks head it onto my hammock suspension. License to hang, that's too cool for words.

Great idea. Perfect combo to get kids/teens into it. When my son doesn't use it, I could have a set up to take friends, or back up to my own gear.

Great idea. How about an option to add a TQ and UQ in conjunction with another vendor? Maybe if someone buys a starter kit with Dutchware they could get a combo TQ/UQ from whoever at a small discount. I don't know much about business just throwing it out there.

I have been thinking about this, and I remember my introduction to hammock camping as far back as 2004. I wonder if the marketing on this is not a bit skewed.

If I were a ground camper, and had been doing that for a while, and wanted to see what all the excitement about hammocks was all about, I would begin not with a $250 package, but with something with a price tag around $100. I might not like it as much as everyone else (hard to believe) and would just stick my foot in the water at first. I would get a $70 or $80 hammock with some cordage and a blue tarp to try it out. I would hang in a moderate month like April or October. I would use my existing sleeping bag for warmth. If I researched the topic and found out about CBS, I would put a cheap ground pad in the hammock to cover my back side. I would use my existing gear as much as possible.

If I were new to camping all together, I would be even more cautious about laying down big bucks on a package like this.

I think this deal is for the guy (gender neutral intended) who has been hanging for a year in the $100 setup, and now knows what the options are. He has read Hammock Forums for a few months and learns about hammocks with built in bug nets, about tarps made of cuban fiber, about bottom quilts and top quilts, about suspension hardware and whoopie slings. This guy would add up the prices of the kits from Warbonnet and Dutchware and Hammock Gear and Hennessy, and begin to save up for his full time regular gear.

This package is attractive for the price savings and the one stop shopping experience. I think that Dutch would do well to shape this deal for the intermediate hammock camper who is hooked now and ready to gather a really good kit.
