The wife wanted to put together something to take the place of the raffle that will not be done this year. So, Here is her post from the group's Facebook page. This for those of you that will be attending but do not have a Facebook account. She wanted to be sure that everyone was given a heads up. If your picture below comes out small just click on it to enlarge.

I organize the SoCal Hangers hang.

I would give the following advice:

Find a date at a time of year that is most likely for good weather and not on a holiday weekend

Set the date without too much input from others. No date will work for everyone and I have seen dozens of potential hangs go nowhere because nobody wants to potentially leave someone out. By nature, some people will not be able to make it. the good news is that if you actually get something going they may be able to make it next year.

Reserve a small group spot somewhere that has other sites adjacent to it so you can expand if necessary. Be ready to possibly lose a few bucks the first time around.

Create a PayPal account with which people can pre-pay. People seem to be ok with 25-30 per adult or 10-15 for kids. The goal is to have enough overage so that you can not front the cash next year or the year after.

    Post and promote.

Let everything grow organically, don't force it.

    Accept help.

It would appear that this will not be happening as Adam was fortunate to find someone that is going to take over the raffle this year. So looks like we are back to the original fund raiser raffle. Actually happy to see that as this event has been so helpful to the cause.

I’m up in Chico and would be interested. Lassen and the Trinities both have ample trees and no permit/cost issues.

    Which campsites would you recommend?

Williecash gives good advice. As far as campsites go it depends on how big a group. I prefer less developed or better yet backcountry destinations. But some people want tables and bathrooms. So it takes some knowing your crowd.
