    UQ long term storage

So I'm going to sew myself an Apex Underuilt from RSBTR (it's in the mail). I've seen picture and read posts the state the down filled underquilt should be stored in large cotton bag that allows air to flow through the quilt. Does the same hold true for synthetic insulation quilts?

I store all of my quilts in large plastic storage bins that can be stacked in the back of the closet.

A large cotton or mesh bag allows a quilt (UQ or TQ) or, for that matter, a sleeping bag, to be stored un-compressed. Compressing any insulation for any length of time can inhibit its ability to achieve its full loftiness. Synthetics are far less susceptible to this than down but are affected to some degree. Even short-term compression takes a bit of a toll; fibers break down some. Nothing lasts indefinitely. Having the storage bag be breathable lessens mold and mildew problems.

Storage bags are often handier than hanging things up loose.

if it's 100% dry, it doesn't need to breathe, but that's almost never possible

When I'm not using my quilts, I just fold them in half length-wise, and hang them over the hanger bar

Second the storage bin or just hang in a closet in a suit bag.
