Two concerns about this:
The total length of the shock cord, being substantially reduced, doesn't leave any margin for the poor soul who, in the middle of the night, sits back into the UQ, misses the hammock body, and ends up on the ground. This does happen from time to time. I fear the UQ could be damaged as the shock cord is stretched beyond it limit.
The pulley equalizes the tension between the primary and secondary suspension where the secondary doesn't need nearly as much tension applied to it. The unnecessary tension on the secondary probably shouldn't cause any problems...
