    Two concerns about this:

The total length of the shock cord, being substantially reduced, doesn't leave any margin for the poor soul who, in the middle of the night, sits back into the UQ, misses the hammock body, and ends up on the ground. This does happen from time to time. I fear the UQ could be damaged as the shock cord is stretched beyond it limit.

The pulley equalizes the tension between the primary and secondary suspension where the secondary doesn't need nearly as much tension applied to it. The unnecessary tension on the secondary probably shouldn't cause any problems...

Good observations Mike. Here's my past experience. I've used only 5' of 1/8" shock cord in all my quilts, with Zing-it completing the suspension. I've sat in my quilts more than once with no harm done (at least to the quilt, LOL).
The 1st quilt I made had shock cord running the length of the hammock. Bad design as the quilt sagged creating gaps. I shortened it to 5' and never looked back.

As to the tension on the quilt, it's made from same materials as the hammock, only a bit lighter weight. If the hammock can hold my 200 pounds with no shock provision, I think the quilt will survive the tension.

Good questions though. So far, this system has served me well.

Glad it's working. I'd worry with an UQ that wasn't as robust as what you've made! Full length 1/8" shock cord, not that I'm promoting it, ought to be able to hold up just about any UQ, regardless of thickness, with enough initial tension.

One other thing to note: The foot end of the system would need to be modified to be used on a hammock with an integrated bug net where the SRL runs under the net. Easy enough to run the LashIt/ZingIt to the foot end and support the suspension along the hammock body with UQ (pack) hooks about a foot in from the end.

BTW, this turns out to be somewhat similar to a system I've been working on (and sharing the design concept with one of the vendors) since early July.

Yes, the attachment to the ridgeline works with my Fronkey style bugnet, or no bugnet. An integrated bugnet would require running the suspension to end of the hammock.
I've run under quilt suspensions to the ends when I used integrated nets and it worked OK.
The attachment on the ridgeline, I've found, lifts the partial quilts without quite as much tension required.
