What happened to your original dyneema straps with EVO soft shackles?

Becket hitch convert here, too. Thought I really wanted Whoopie slings with a marlin spike hitch. My 2 favorite hanging spots the trees are too close together, used a becket hitch with them, and I don't see me going back to the Whoopies unless I come across trees spaced wider apart, when I backpack new trails. I move around quite a bit while I sleep, stomach, to side, to back and it holds me just fine with no slippage. With hindsight, I probably would have purchased different tree straps, a little longer too, but the poly/spider ones are doing ok for now.
I too use the becket hitch. I use ucr's cause they are so much easier to loosen. specially when u have stuff in your hammock.. I only use 6' of webbing, simply because webbing takes up a lot more space than amsteel cordage. space in my pack is most important to me.
My worst night in a hammock was still better than my best night in a tent!!!!
Yep, helps a ton with the Becket! In fact, can cause friction/heat damage without some method to loosen the CL.

Moving on to the becket hitch myself, mainly for the simplicity. Picked up the 15' dyneema polysester hybrid straps from MyersTech. While i havn't had the chance to test them yet i'm hoping to get the chance this coming weekend. I like the fact that it cna be truly adjustable.
I use turtle ties for this - just keep them on the CL and they privide a nice pull to undo the Beckett. I also sometimes use the turtles as intended with amsteel, it just depends on whatever suspension I happen to take.
Hard to beat the Beckett hitch all things considered I feel.
I just love these turtle ties however even when I just use them as a pull - so small and strong, no sharp edges, well designed.
