    Bear Keg, Alcohol Cook Kit

In the interest of expediency, my PayPal ID can be found in my profile. Feel free to speed through the process if you like.

    SOLD!
First up is a Bear Keg:
Approved by the IGBC & the SIBBG
    716 cubic inches of storage
    Dimensions 9″ X 14″
    3.5 Pounds
    https://www.counterassault.com/product/bear-keg/
I only used it on one trip for a few days, so it’s full working condition, just some standard scratches from regular use.
I will include the optional carry pack with it, shown here:
    https://www.counterassault.com/produ...-for-bear-keg/
    Total paid: $95
Selling here for $45 PayPal shipped to CONUS

    ——

    STILL AVAILABLE!
Next, I am selling a cook kit. It includes:

EVERNEW Titanium Ultralight Pot, 0.9-Liter $54
    Weighs 3.6 oz
Used, but fully functional. I removed the rubber insulation from the fold out handle.
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AQYVQS

    Bobcat Jr. Cooking System $37.50
    Weighs 2.8 oz
    https://www.flatcatgear.com/shop/bob...ooking-system/
Used. This includes an alcohol stove, a foldable baseplate, and a stainless windscreen. I’m missing the two pins to complete the windscreen, but you can cut two pieces 4.5” long out of a coat hanger and they will be just as effective. It also uses two snaps to keep it’s shape, so the pins are only for resting the pot on.

    Bobcat FLAT CAT HAT $7.50
    Weighs 0.3 oz
This is basically a piece of carbon felt to help insulate the lid when boiling. It also serves as a trivet to insulate the pot from the ground afterwards. Or it could be used to insulate your hands when grabbing the pot.

    Trangia Fuel Bottle (0.3-Liter) $16
    Weighs 3.5 oz
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001BWD44A

    Total Paid: $115
Selling here for $50 PayPal shipped to CONUS

You may have to forgive a stupid question....but is the bear keg waterproof/watertight? I did check your link without much luck in figuring this out and haven't had time to research elsewhere yet.

Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with bear resistant backpacking gear, as I don't need/use in my travels, but you're pricing it as something that could be picked up as a just in case scenario. If it's waterproof, I could rationalize that it would be handy storage carried on my kayak...

Edit: So everything I'm seeing from Amazon and other forum reviews states it is not completely watertight. However, an REI staff response in the Q&A states it is waterproof. I lean towards thinking this wouldn't be suitable for a completely waterproof option.

Good question. Strictly speaking, no. However, it’s not far from it. Where the lid meets the can is the only point of entry water can enter. There is a series of lips that helps minimize it though. Here are som pics:

So if you are looking from full protection, perhaps you could modify this if you’re handy and make it so. Now if you’re looking for rain protection, it can certainly handle that. I just tested it in the shower. I placed the can in the shower upright for a few minutes, sliding it around to different places on the floor frequently for different angles. My shower head comes from straight above in the middle. I only saw about a teaspoon of water get in. So if you just placed this thing sideways on the ground or even upside down there wouldn’t be any water from rain getting in.

Another thing to note. The lipped ring is a continuous complete circle except for a few inches, the groove is a little deeper to allow you to press down on that part to lift the lid off. It may be the only part that leaks, which would take less work to seal off.

Thank you so much for taking the time to take additional pictures and do a little testing to answer my questions. Beyond awesome of you..

I'm glad to see this has found a good home :-)
