Most folks just talk to Jared and have him take 3 minutes and 8 seconds to build their WH90 to order I believe

I am a big fan of an interior pole mod for the tarp over the draumr. in crazy windy broadside conditions, the tarp can bounce off the head end in a ridiculously annoying way

    center pole mod fixes that

Jared's done those, as well as the external mod which is great too

That was a brilliant idea AZ. I bought the 3/8" pex pipe at Home Depot for $1.98 for 5 feet of pipe.

I cut a 16" piece for the head end and a slightly larger 17" piece for the foot end. They fit perfectly and weigh basically nothing.

This is a picture of the foot end of the Amok XL with the pipe in place. BTW, the hammock is huge.

thanks! Yeah, it's working out perfectly. And I did the same, one end was longer, just couldn't recall which! I got the entry down pat with my side entry so I don't knock the piece out of the holder. Works like a charm!

Dredging this old thread back up. I am interested in a bridge, and am wondering what the minimum tree distance is for the Draumr XL?

8 feet for the hammock, although I think their Borg tarp requires a little bit more than that.

8'?....wow, I was not expecting that. I cant get comfortable in my Exped unless im at 12' or better. Thanks cmc.

Now if I could only get Amok to let me order just a Draumr XL and Borg I'd be all set. I already have 2 different brands of XL pads and don't need theirs. I emailed them and they won't break up a 'set' which seems odd to me.

Edit: I got a response explaining that the pad tubes have to run lengthwise, and a shorter pad will not allow full use of the extra length.

Ok, I understand, but now it raises a concern. Can the Draumr be used without any pad, or if the pad gets a blowout and goes flat? Bear with me on this because I motorcamp, and my trips run 3 weeks to over a month on the road. If a dead pad means I can't use the Draumr I will stick with my Exped which works even with no pad at all in a pinch.

no, you don't, or at least, I really doubt it

the amok XL pad is 87 inches long

you're probably thinking of everyone else's LW pads, standard is 78 inches

basically, if you're looking for the XL Draumr, you NEED the XL Fjol

if you're looking for a draumr for your 78 inch pad, then you don't need the XL, just the regular Draumr

and yes, the Draumr 100% requires a pad

Also make sure to carry a pad repair kit and know how to use it.
