    Question Warbonnet zippers

    Hi guys
I want to ask about your thougths on the zippers on the warbonnet hammocks. I want to upgrade to the blackbird XLC, but the zippers look small, unbranded and weak. On my HH the zippers are a heavy duty YKK zipper that you can pull on all day long, so they feel much more bullet proof. This is the only thing holding me back from buying the XLC. Am I wrong?

I tested out a Ridgerunner recently. The zippers didn't seem weak to me. But they were definitely not as smooth as the zippers on my Dream Hammock.

WB doesn't use stuff that doesn't work! I don't know about the zippers being unbranded.

I've had ZERO problems with my XLC. I like YKK's products but I wouldn't want their heavy duty zippers on my hammock...

I have an XLC (v1.0) and I have had no problem with the zipper in 4 yrs. They are not large tooth and dont pull open as easy as some but they have not been a problem.

On the flip side, my Chameleon has had two zipper heads break on me in a year.

I doubt you will have any problems with the XLC zippers. YMMV tho.

They make pretty much every kind of zipper for every kind of application. I thought my old blackbird had YKK zippers so I'll need to check. It's been fine for 6+ years. I don't know about the new blackbird I just got last week. I didn't check yet but they are nice and smooth.

I keep telling myself that I really don't need to replace my XLC with one of the new ones, despite all the added features. I really don't need to. I really don't need to.

My blackbird has YKK zippers. I ordered it earlier this year.

You got me curious so I checked my new (in May) XLC in blue. No logo on the zipper pulls. I've only slept about six nights in my XLC, but I have hung it in our backyard a bunch of times practicing my skills in deploying and packing up my hammock and tarp. Sometimes I would hang for a little while but the heat this summer limited my hang time. So far, no problems.

    Just my $0.02.

I approve and stand by their zippers.
Years of use on mine and never had a problem.
    They zip easy too.
