    Spider/poly strap failures reported

I haven't had this happen with mine, but I have seen numerous consumer reports via the HF Facebook page(s) where people said they've had issues with the spider/poly straps shredding and/or breaking when used with the Beetle Buckles. Is this a known issue, and if so, has it been addressed already? I have these straps and Beetle Buckles, but haven't noticed any defects or fails to date. They've been rock solid for me, so I'm just rather wondering what's going on with these other cases.

I wish it was. This was one of the pictures of it that someone had posted.

Looks like the polypropylene strands got cut from the buckle. Luckily the strength of the strap is in the white UHWPE strands. We will be replacing that strap. There is many miles of that webbing out there and would say it is very trail tested webbing. Although that looks ugly, it is not a catastrophic failure and can be easily replaced.

    Spider/poly strap failures reported

I had mine slip and fray the straps. I was being dumb and hanging next to an edge which I shouldn’t have. Hitting the ground was disappointing didn’t hurt too bad I’m going back to marlin spike with caribeaner. And never hanging too close to edges where I can did if my stuff fails very bad judgement in my part.

A knot or hitch can slip or fail to hold entirely—-
If it is not dressed or tightened B4 loading.

I’m wondering if a strap can slip on buckle or other hardware, especially if it is not adequately tightened or set B4 loading.

OMG, OMG, OMG. I can't believe you survived! That looks beyond dangerous - that's death wish territory.

    Spider/poly strap failures reported

I looked and did not find a recent thread with pictures of strap in buckle. One pix shows correct direction of strap through buckle and other pix shows incorrect direction of strap through buckle.

It looked like straps were going same path through buckle EXCEPT in opposite direction
Could this have been why straps slipped and frayed? Can’t tell by looking at pix posted on this thread—-if strap was threaded backwards through strap? Hey, stuff happens—-good luck on going again.
