Duncan Ridge Trail (GA) any news on recent conditions, especially water?

    Hey All,

Next week I hope to hike the GA Loop. My version will start at Three Forks (AT/BMT), take the BMT NOBO at Long Creek Falls, and split off on the DRT on Rhodes Mt. From there, join up with the Coosa BCT at Vogel, and then the DRT connection to the AT just south of Blood Mt. I may or may not take a side trip to Blood Mt, but either way from there I will hike SOBO back to Three Forks.

I hope to make it in 4 days and 3 nights, but will have an extra day's worth of food JIC.

Does anyone have any recent info on the DRT, especially the water sources at Sarvis Gap, Mulky Gap and Whiteoak Stomp? I'm hoping that the relatively wet year we've had so far will mean that the creeks/springs are flowing there, but first-hand knowledge would be a great help if anyone knows. Thanks errbody!

This guy has recently been out on the BMT and might have some info on the DRT. If you dropped him a note in a video comment, he might know. I commented on one of his videos and he answered me in less than a day. Good luck on your trip. Envious.

It's actually a clip from my laptop screen, but they have an app as well, and I use it on my phone. Weather Underground, here's the Suches GA page.

Sorry I have nothing to offer on your requests but please post a trip report so you can tell us of your adventure. I would like to do this loop sometime!

I'll try to get a trip report out and eventually a video. I'm behind on my video editing (lazy).

I've been wanting to do this loop since I first heard about it a few years ago. With titles like "The toughest hike in Georgia" it drew me in!

I have returned, got in last night (8-1) at about 9 pm.

Finished the loop in about 59 hrs, 3 days two nights, averaged 20+ miles a day. It was exhausting, brutal and beautiful!

Glad you made it but that doesn't sound like a fun hike. Any reason you were so rushed? I did a 14 mile day and hated it.
