    Dutchware PCT dongle

I've never used the PCT method of food hanging before but when Dutch came out with his own dongle for it, i decided to get one and try it out.

I'm wondering what type of food bag people usually use with the PCT style of hanging. I was thinking just a regular roll top style dry bag? And how big should i get of a bag in terms of liters?

I carry a Large Food Bag from ZPacks. It's covered me for pretty much any trip I've taken up to 5 days...which is basically every trip I've taken. Some people use a dry bag. Some even just a stuff sack and make sure their food is sealed from moisture. I actually find this toggle amusing. I've always just used a stick.

I've only camped in bear country twice and each time I used the PCT using a stick and my ArrorHead food bag.

I've been using this food bag from SLD: https://www.simplylightdesigns.com/c...roducts_id/385 , plus it's designed to fit the large lok-sak odor proof bags. I'll alternate using a stick with the PCT method, or just using a nite eyze figure9 'biner and just make sure to pull the bag out of reach. Never really had an issue with a bear here in Michigan, but I still like to keep my food away from the critters.

I use a DIY, roll-top bag made from some left-over xenon wide material. So far, so good. I use the PCT method anytime I can.

A roll top style dry bag will do it and I would say 15 liters is good.

I use the Ursack minor whic is actually decently large. I’m mostly a weekend warrior anyway.

The dongle looks interesting; let us know how it works out. I used a stick for a toggle, but I always wound up breaking the stick to get it free. Then I cut down an aluminium tent stake to 3" and it seems to work.

I get away with an 8l rolltop drysack with an Opsak odor proof bag. The bag is just paranoia on my part and a 15L bag would come in handy on longer trips. If you're interested in a the best bear bag line, I suggest: http://lawsonequipment.com/Cordage/U...ine-p1073.html It makes a fine emergency cord, if, say, if my hammock rope breaks.
