There are multiple youtube videos showing the PCT method of bear bag hanging.

Since the theory is that the bears/animals can't get to your bag, anything will do. I used a simple roll top dry bag that was just big enough to hold all my food/scented items.

However, since I noticed it was taking me up to half an hour to find a tree that was ideal for a PCT hang (which is my preferred method) and throw the line over the tree without it getting stuck or hitting myself in the head, I've since switched to the Ursack. Yeah, it's much heavier but it deploys in about 10 seconds.

I found it was less about the bag but more about the quality of the line. A really slick throw line helps a lot and a rock bag makes throwing it much easier than attaching a tree branch.

I still don’t know how to use the dongle. I know the PCT method but how do we wrap the dongle?

But the bears don't have half as much fun playing with an Ursack as they do with a cannister...

Just encountered this for the first time, and it looks interesting. It's not replacing the stick that's important for me. It's replacing the marlinspike hitch. To keep a stick from getting stuck I just whittle the knots and peel any bark off one end, so it's easier to remove. On the other hand, I have been known to get my finger caught in a marlinspike loop 15" above my head while standing on tiptoe. It's especially difficult when the food bag is heavily loaded.
