Unless it has changed since I did the JMT.

Find a limb 15' off ground, preferably a down sloping branch.
    (Note: Not too fat)
Throw rope over tree limb at least 10' from trunk.
Tie first bag (Equal weight to second bag) to end of rope.
    Pull bag up to limb.
Stand on 'something' (If you can) and tie second bag to rope.
    Secure excess rope to bag.
Push second bag up, as first bag comes down.
    Make both bags equal.
    15' to limb
    8' up to second bag.

    15' - 8' = 7'
    7'/2 = 3 1/2' down from limb.
    15' - 3 1/2' = 11 1/2' off the ground
    I collect vintage camp stoves.
    I roast coffee at home.

    Nope, the PCT style is:
-throw a rock bag attached to a line over limb
-clip your food bag with a biner to opposite end of line from rock bag
-clip rock bag end of the line to the same biner, this is key
-pull down on the rock bag end of the line bringing the food bag nearly as high as it will go
-keep the bag up there, don’t let go, and tie a toggle in the line as high as you comfortably can
-extra credit option: clip a small ditty bag with frequently needed items to the line right above that toggle
    - let the line go back up slowly and it should stop halfway when the toggle hits the biner

To remove, pull down line, remove toggle and let the bag slide all the way down.

I know the PCT method, it’s the dongle I can figure out. Doesn’t even come with a fancy instruction card like other Dutch gear.

Yeah, Dutch promised to make a tutorial video, but apparently forgot about it.

I wonder if a larger version of this could function as a toggle in a hammock suspension? One compatible with 7/64” amsteel of possibly even dyneema webbing.

It takes us a while until we make those cards. Not only does making the cards take a while to design but nothing is worse than printing 1000 cards for rev A and rev B comes out the following week.

I have been lacking in this area. I have even been out hiking quite a bit this month but who wants to work when they are hungry. It is still on my todo list. It is just a long list.

I saw this on the website last week and scratched my head.. How do you use it??

I use a DIY version of the Z-Packs Bear Bag.. I picked up some CF material and tape, sewed on a loop for the biner and added a draw cord. The cinch pulls really tight so I am not worried about water getting in the bag, plus I put a medium size Opsak inside the CF sack. Works great and is a fifth of the weight of the dry bag I was using, and larger.

I use the PCT method for the bag and a trail stick for the toggle.. and, like others, I always end up breaking the stick to get it out.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I'm wondering what type of food bag people usually use with the PCT style of hanging. I was thinking just a regular roll top style dry bag? And how big should i get of a bag in terms of liters?
I like the zpacks food bag but any regular roll top will work I used a 14L on the PCT however I didn't hang the back a ton.

Pacific Crest Trail. The PCT method is just an improved food-hanging method popularized by thru-hikers on the trail. It uses only one branch, no counter-balance, and can't be cut down as easily by a bear.
