    NX Underquilt Mods

Quite awhile ago I had posted some pics about ways to secure an underquilt to a Clark.
Here is my first iteration. It sealed OK but reduces the quilt's coverage by about a foot overall, and it just doesn't look right (elegant).

Here is my 2nd try using the Clark pole to anchor the UGQ underquilt head and foot end tri-rings, but I was afraid it could damage the quilt.

Here is my next attempt as suggested by Paul at UGQ. Using shock cord with a mitten hook and a toggle to clip to the underquilt tri-rings makes the connection adjustable and forgiving minimizing the potential to damage the quilt. The problem is the suspension can slip too far into the center of the hammock bed reducing width coverage at the head and foot ends.

I tried larks-heading shock cord with mitten hooks and toggles running from the apex of the poles to the underquilt suspension but it tended to create shoulder squeeze and just looked hokey.

I was looking at a hot weather-only DH Darien but just couldn't justify pulling the trigger yet on my retirement income to save the 18 ounces (have to use my UGQ WD12' tarp). But when looking closely at the DH pack hook option, I thought that would be easy to add to the Clark. I showed some blown up pics to Mrs Brian and she set up her commercial machine to help out. This worked well on my outing last week. Great length, width, and depth quilt coverage, with no squeeze. I'm pretty happy with the result so far.

The nice folks at Loco Libre make special UQs just for Clarks:

    https://www.locolibregear.com/gear.h...=0&sort=normal

They're tapered at the ends and already have the connectors set up for the pole supports.

I recently made a UQ for my early-model NA out of an old sleeping bag, and based on their design, made a big dart on either end. I put buttons on that fit through the little grosgrain loops similar to how you have your pack hooks. It fits great!

By golly it's about time! Thanks for the Link!! I honestly believe I have better side to side coverage at both ends but I'm sure glad someone decided to serve the Clark market with a quality quilt.

I still don't understand why clark does not make a down Z-liner!

Directly from Clark, they don't have any interest in the down quilt business.
