5 pages in and I still don't know if by "bike," Dutch meant bicycle or motorcycle.

Yes, hammocks are possible, along with Hostels along the route.

    The big three are:

1: Shoes and Cleats - Pearl i' ZUM: I" X-ALP Launch SPD (cover the cleat and look normal) w/shorts and shirt

2: Shimano SM-SH66 cleats (to disengage right away)

3: Cycling Bibs Castelli 3XL Unlimited Bibshort

Get to where you can pound out 50 miles per day, 7 days a week, no matter the rain, snow, heat, and sleet

Then and only then will you have gone thru hell to finalize your riding equipment.

you will be lucky to get it done in 90 days. Lights, lights, lights!

I love my Apidura Backcountry bikepacking bags. They're light, and a bit constraining. Limiting me to a rather spartan load. Which suits me fine, As a lightweight / gram-weenie backpacker for the last decade, I'm not humping a bike laden with a bunch of stuff I don't need, up and over two major mountain ranges. So ...
If it were me, I'd just make sure that the tarp I used over my Half-Zip worked well when I needed to go to ground. I'd maybe pack a small, inflatable mattress pad, and a bivy/bug net.
It's on my bucket list too!

I’m starting out this summer. I have a back country bar bag. Do you find it is big enough for tarp and hammock? Still trying to sort out carrying a tarp, hammock top quilt and change of clothes

Maybe. The bag is like a big dry bag that rolls closed at both ends. So the amount of volume one gets depends on the type of handle bars they're running. I currently have drop bars, so I have to roll it fairly tight from both sides to fit between the drops. I still think I could fit my hammock and tarp in it ... I've been putting my food bag in it.

Do you have a pic of your bike set up with gear? Another option I’m looking at is fork mounted gear. No panniers but I do have a 14l seat bag(revelate design)

How well did your gear all fit into your bags? I too use Apidura gear (but the 17l seat bag), and I find that fitting everything in is the hardest part. Mind you, my gear is rated for 0° (as I'm a cold sleeper), and everything is also larger than normal as I'm 6'5" and 240 pounds. I do not yet own a handlebar bag so I am a testing to see how things may fit.
